Unearthing Earthdance

This Saturday there's a free dance party held in Stanley Park near Second Beach. Earthdance started out as a fundraiser for Tibet, and it continues its original intent of spreading the Peace-Love vibe. Ok, ok, maybe it's a bit of a hippy party, but with electronic genres covering techno,breaks,hip hop, drum'n bass and progressive psytrance, surely there's something in there for anyone who wants to shake their money-maker.

From noon to 7pm, people will be lounging and grooving. Oh, except for the break at 4pm for a Prayer for Peace, celebration, spiral dance, and some drumming. Ok, it might not be everybody's cuppa joe, but this kinda thing does present the opportunity for people to think that hey we're not just dancing 'cause the music's bustin', but also hoping that we're generating a little positivity. One thing's for sure, the people who put on and promote these events really believe that a dance party that's free and good has the power to unite cultures and spread love. Call it hippy if you want, but I think it's pretty cool when partying has intellectual connections beyond partying.

BTW, the party is by donation, so do try to earn a little good karma and toss some change in the bucket. It'll all come back, trust me.
