Some people love breaks and some people hate breaks but if the only breakbeat you've ever been exposed to are OJ's then you're going to be a card-carrying fanatic for life. He's got a funky style that never grates and a grin that never dims. And he can dance. Boy, can he dance! And I'm not just talking about breakdancing (though he's been doing for over ten years) - next time you see him ask him to do the Bingo Bango Bongo and be amazed.

Vancouver residencies (past and present)?

Mondays @ Element - Eedit Breakbeat Culture
Mondays @ Cellar - Edit Breakbeat Culture
Mondays @ Voda - Edit Breakbeat Culture
Tuesdays @ Tommy Africa's - JnB Pproductions
Tuesdays @ Garfinkels - JnB Productions
Fridays @ Sonar - Break Yo Self (main room)
Fridays @ Sonar - WFB & Twentyhz (urban lounge)
Waldorf parties - Blueprint & Mint

Played at SOUNDWAVE on the island last three years (on-going resident for that three-day outdoor festival)

Played with James E and the Spanish Banks crew

First introduction to music?

I've always loved music. Got big into old skool hip hop in early '80s and '90s. In '92 I started b.boying (breakdancing) where I discovered '70s funk and old skool breakbeats. Love the funk!!! I started diggin' for beats cuz I needed beats to move me during b.boy practice.

Favourite all time party/set in Vancouver (doesn't necessarily have to be yours)?

Favouite party set... I like all types of music and I've boogied hard to so many different sets - locals and superstar DJs. I couldnt pick just one.

Are you happy with the Vancouver scene?

I'm happy to be a part of the scene. I wish the breaks and drum and bass scene had more support. I wish we had venues with phatter sound systems.

Why do you reckon the scene is smaller than other cities of Vancouver's size?

Our scene is definately smaller which is sad cuz I think the music is wicked here. I can't do an accurate comparison cuz I havent been to too many places.

Would you relocate as a DJ?

Unless my paycheck is crazy huge elsewhere I'd stay in Van. I'd like to check out Australia though - heard breaks and drum and bass are huge there. Would love to live off beats on a beach!!

What makes Vancouver the best city EVER?

Vancity rules!! Beaches, mountains, and the best people.
