Dukin' It Out Digital-style

It can be very fun to be at an event where every single form of electronica collides and this is going to be a mass spectacle - electronic and acoustic music plus a good helping of noise will be manipulated at Vancouver's 2nd Laptop Battle at Sonar on Wednesday, October 19.
So far there are twelve contestants (full list available on the official site) and they're going to fight to the digital death. They'll all be paired up at random and then each one will have three minutes to "show the crowd that he/she does not suck." After each showdown the audience and judges decide who sucked less (or better yet, who rocked the laptop best). Keep in mind that isn't just to make beautiful music; you need to tweak the crowd with your skills, imagination and melody. The winner goes to the next round 'til there is just one left standing. He/she is the winner, gets a prize and in December gets to compete against the other city champs. Last year Vancouver's Spark (n5md, NTSC) became the first Laptop Battle North American champ.
If you'd like to sign up please do so by emailing vancouver@laptopbattle.org with your contact information and if you want to check it out just drop by Sonar any time after 20.00 on October 19. Tickets are $6.
