"It's soul, hip hop, reggae, rock and roll, and uh... folk. Oh, just go to the website, we hired someone who did a great job of describing our music." I am sitting with Jason Evans, the lead vocalist for the band Freeflow, who is playing with DJ Jacob Cino tonight at Ginger Sixty-Two. I have caught him on his way to yoga.
Although it might be difficult to squeeze the band's sound into a generic category, they certainly are not difficult to listen to. The brand of funk they play is infectious. I dare you to sit completely still through one of their shows. Evans informs me that Jacob Cino was named one of Canada's top dj's by Exclaim magazine recently and the combination of musical talents makes a lot of people happy. The last time the band played with Cino they had a completely sold out show.
Freeflow will not be playing again in Vancouver until New Years eve (at the Backstage Lounge). So I suggest you take this opportunity to move your body down to Ginger Sixty-Two, at the very least it will give you the opportunity to work off some of the winter pudge which has started settling in for the winter months.
