The Mae Shi, The Pope, and Winning, Wednesday, Novemeber 23rd at the Lamplighter.
Download Vampire Beats
"Art-noise-rock guerillas The Mae Shi are four young men from Los Angeles with an average age of 25. Heartbeeps, on 5RC is their latest product - ten home-recorded tracks that plumb the depths of their musical taste, as influenced by their current infatuation with Melt-Banana, Deerhoof and overhyped UK grime as by their pimply adolescent love of Def Leppard, Nine Inch Nails, Dante's Inferno and worship music. Drum machines, cut-and-paste choruses, handclaps, recycled riffs, hoots, hollers, and lyrics pulled from neuroscience textbooks and Plato's Republic."
Don't know much about The Pope, other than that they are on Satellite City. This is what I got when I googled "The Pope on Satellite City": Death of a Pope, from ground level by John Arden- The Digital ...
The pope was clearly dying. Two hospital visits earlier in the year had spurred even the most ... Vatican City became Satellite City. Photo by John Arden ..." Oh, and also their myspace site
Winning is Jack from Radio Berlin/Primes, Andy from d.bs./Red Light Sting/Secret Mommy/The Epidemic/Tights, and Paul from d.bs., Red Light Sting, and Winks. Can't fucking wait to see what madness these devils conjure. If it's anything like Jack and Andy's previous collaboration, Heavy Party, bring your earplugs bitches. Expect tribal post art deconstruction.
Some other band is playing too. I can't remember their name.
