Sad to Say It, but...

O my god, did Gorgomish ever suck last Saturday. Everything completely and undeniably sucked: the people, the sub-arctic draft, the music, the trickle of water coming out of the faucet, the cover, the attitude, the glowsticks, the lack of light, those garish paintings, the music o my god the music, the music it was awful awful awful. Serious, man, the music just ripped my soul to pieces.
You know what, though? I knew what I was getting myself into; it's been consistently crappy for the past year. But you know how it is, your friends want to go, it's someone's last weekend in town, there's nothing else to do and you think, 'maybe this time it'll be different'. But it won't. If anything you're lucky if it's the same as last time and not worse.

Then there's the fact that there are about five men to every chick. This past Saturday was my third time there since they stopped adhering to the one girl to one boy rule. Dude, the place is a sausage factory like you wouldn't believe, and a mean one at that. The guys are pumped full of steroids and other such ego- and testosterone-boosting substances to the point that all they can do is take off their shirt, cross their arms and stare. If one of them approaches you just walk away.
But let's get to the most important factor: the music. There's no talent behind the decks. Sure, Aly and Tyler Stadius play there once a blue moon and RC had a brief comeback but for the most part the DJs are amateurs getting their big break way before the time is right. And the one and only resident, Tyler Johnson - would it kill him to play something good?
I won't get started on Hernan Cattaneo getting canceled but the bottom line is that the commendable foundation Gorgomish was built upon has decayed and hopefully it won't be long for the management to realize that they've got to start pumping the place with integrity again. This afterhours was our saviour when it first came on the scene (it could have been nothing but perfect when it opened, if it had been it wouldn't have survived the temporary 04.00 closing period) and now it's not just a mockery of itself but a pitiful knock-off.

Some one had to say it....its such a sad story, thanks Ariadna. I feel sorry for people that come to Vancouver and want party afterhours, but Gorgomish is their only option. Everything above is true, Vancouver has so much more to offer. Gorgomish definetely needs to get a clue and tap into it.
