Person Of The Week - GMAN

Garret Louie (GMAN) is the man. Though sometimes I think there is more than one of Garret; maybe even five. Or maybe he's been cloned several times. Who knows. But he's got like thirty jobs and I don't see how he does it. He is part owner of Livestock (a specialty shoe store), he's a dj and promoter. He helps his dad Nick run Nick Louie and Associates, which is a huge skate/snow/street-wear distribution company. The list goes on and on and on. GMAN has his eyeball on everything west coast. Whatever fun that's happening, you can be sure Garret knows all about it.

Nope.

I'm old.

Sarcastic as you can see.

Do you work?
Uh...just a lil bit.

Any hobbies?
Skin flute and tromboner.

Favorite place to get legless (i.e. Drunk)?
Int'l Gold Fridays at Atlantis and Big Up Saturdays at Plush free drinks, you can't go wrong.

What's your poison?
It's all good!

Craziest drinkin' binge?
1990-present.

Where and what do you eat when you are hung over?
I can't eat when I am humgover.

Music?
Rock, hip-hop, punk, latin, dancehall, reggaeton, r&b, soul, funk, rare groove, classics, old school, jazz, electronic and more.

How did you get into being a promoter?
Basically started as an avenue to promote the brands that I was distributing and next thing you know...I was a promoter.

best show ever?
Too many to name, I like the party rocking DJ shows like DJ Kid Capri and DJ Cash Money.

Movies?
I don't get to see much these days. Kung Fu Hustle was hype.

What are some of the coolest things about Vancouver?
The rain. What isn't cool about Vancouver?

What are the worst?
I love this city, it's my hood. No complaints here.

What do you do about Vancouver's rainy days?
Get wet like everybody else because true Vancouverites don't use umbrellas.
