021706_tshdt.jpgWow, Lots going on tomorrow night yo. Got this "E"vite from Vice yesterday: "Some of our favourite artists in Canada designed cans for Kokanee and we're throwing a party to celebrate. The night is on us." That means free beer. God help us...

Installation: Andy Dixon
Musical Guests: Pride Tiger, The Christa Min

That would be rad If I drank, or should I say, when I used to drink. But it'll be rad anyways cause Andy rules and so do Pride Tiger and Christa Min. Pride Tiger have some new songs on their myspace site. Maybe I'll see you there, but i must add that is is invite only, not to make you feel lesser or anything, although you probably should, but just so you don't show up there and get denied.

Also tomorrow night is They Shoot Horses Don't They? at 156 W. Hastings. They are releasing their new rekkid on Kill Rock Stars. Also playing is everybody's fave post-spazz art punkers Hot Loins, and Hank Pine and Lily Fawn. I don't really know much about Hank and Lily. I think they might be country, but I could be totally wrong. Fill me in.

Over at the Red Room (formerly the Drink) are Oakland noiserockers Totimoshi with south Delta sludge rockers Goatsblood and squamish stoner rock lords Cobra. Early show, starts at 7 and it's 8 bones. If you want something a little less, oooh I dunno hesher, ride your 3 speed over to Pat's pub for Sean Wesley Wood, Johhny Wakeham, and Ronny Olson. Good kids playing good acoustic folk equals good times.

Or you could get get your glowstick on and follow Ariadna's advice!

This is what local writer Lee Henderson says about They Shoot Horses Don't they in Popmatters.com:

"Forget the mild weather, strong drugs, and stronger drugs, the best reason to move to Vancouver is for the chance to see They Shoot Horses play live almost every month. Because -- good fucking God -- live, these guys (and one drummer girl) are better than Animal Collective (whom I mention as a sonic comparison), better than Black Dice (whom I mention as over-hyped), better than fucking Bright Eyes (whom I mention because I hate his simpering), or that other new T-shirt band from Greenpoint that I listened to the other night (whom I mention because I accidentally bought their hype). They Shoot Horses have that experimental drawl, but none of the in-bent, Brooklyn faux-shyness that usually accompanies it. Live, they approach the wild days of Omoide Hatoba or Truman's Water, and they choir and doo-wop like the best of TV on the Radio -- every one of the six members looking like they wouldn't want to be anywhere else but on stage playing their songs."

Conversely, Pride Tiger aschew any and all pop cliches and rock with their proverbial cock's out. No nonsense glorious arena rock circa 72, a la Detroit Rock city. Monster Riffs that jam for what appear to be hours. Think Thin Lizzy (whom I mention as obligatory 70's rock reference), Fu Manchu (whom I mention as modern take on obligatory 70's rock band), and King Crimson (whom I mention as more obscure prog influence).

Wherever you end up, be safe...

It's true, I hate glowsticks. But I can glowstick like the best of them.
