My Dear Metal Fans, I am sorry I haven't done a Metal post for a while, due to some F@^$#^ kn' computer bul#$$#@it. But I am back. I just heard That SLAYER
is comming on July the 13th, my birthday, and I am totally stoked. I grew up listening to Slayer. The album South Of Heaven is like my youth soundtrack.
Below is some info on different types of Metal.. Check it out.
The best place for metal music shopping is SCRAPE. For you newbies out there, there are 4 main types of Metal music. (their are many others.)
1. Heavy Metal
Description Old school stuff. These are the pioneers of Metal in the 1970s and 80s.
Examples Iron Maiden and Judas priest
2. Death Metal
Description - Morbid and very, very heavy. Singers usually sound a bit like monsters.
Examples. Sinned (Vancouver local band), Cannibal Corpse (I think the name is self explanatory.)
3. Thrash Metal
Description - Really fast and really aggressive. Great party music. Really good music for Skateboarding , BMX bike riding , running, smashing thing's, thrash dancing etc. Thrash provides lots of adrenaline. And it really gets the body pumpin'.
Examples - Slayer (my personal favorite) and Old Metalica (nothing beats the album Master of Puppets.)
4. Nu Metal
Description - Nu Metal is an off-shoot of early thrash metal with a hip hop influence. A lot of old school metal heads don't like this stuff 'cause of its pop hip hop influences . It's really thrashy but with beats.
Allot of people really dig this music.

While it's not Slayer, I think you should pop in to the Astoria Friday night, Sarah... I can't be there tomorrow night, but I think you might enjoy Life Against Death. The singer's scary on stage but she's the nicest person in the world.
There's a band there on Saturday called "Dead Jesus" which I've never heard, but the name intrigues me; I may be going out on a limb, but I'm betting they're metal :)
