Ministry and Revolting Cocks (aka RevCo to please the PMRC and radio DJs everywhere) are coming to town for a two night Masterbatour event. This is the sort of thing that would make your average 13 year old giggle; "He said COCK!" but it's a show that's worth seeing, even if you do have to buy good hearing protection to survive.

The best part is that you can go see the show two nights in a row; May 30 and 31 at the Commodore Ballroom; Ticketmaster has your tickets and that valuable, convenient service that they charge so much for.

The last time Ministry played the Commodore, I'm glad I remembered to bring ear plugs to save that last 10% of my hearing. It was quite possibly the loudest show I've every been to... with the possible exception of that one SNFU gig at the Cobalt when earplugs were of little help against the onslaught of Mr. Chi Pig's vocals.

I've picked up the new album from RevCo, Cocked and Loaded, and the new one from Ministry, Rio Grande Blood. The two bands share the same central character in the person of Al Jourgensen, but they're not as similar stylistically as you'd think.

Ministry this time around consists of;
Al Jourgensen,
Paul Raven (Killing Joke) bass,
Tommy Victor (Prong) guitar,
Mike Scaccia (Rigor Mortis) guitar,
Joey Jordison on drums.

Revolting Cocks are;
Al Jourgensen (Ministry) Vox, guitar
Luc Van Acker (Revolting Cocks) Vox
Phildo Owen (RevCo, Skatenigs, Snow Black) Vox
Josh Bradford (Stayte) Vox
Anna K (Drain, Hanzel und Gretyl) Bass
Seven Antonopoulos (Opiate For the Masses) Drums
Sin (Society 1) Guitars
Clayton Worbeck (Stayte) Keyboards

The Ministry fare is about the loud and the angry and makes something of a political statement. This is rage, albeit rather controlled and calculated. The Revolting Cocks are just that; playing the drunken, revolting cocks that are just out to have fun, drink hard, and party. Cocked and Loaded is more junior high humour with fart and dick jokes alongside industrial-themed dance music that you could dance to. There's one song where they try to make things serious with meaningful lyrics and appear to want to cross the line into a LARD song. Jello Biafra makes sense on an album of rage, but doesn't seem so much at home among the cocks.
