Though this wasn't supposed to be a series of columns into the politics of clubbing it kind of is, or at least you could say this is part two of two, or three, we'll see where this takes us.

As per The End of the Underground? the Lotus has bid Focus farewell and the shamelessly tacky Gecko Club has taken it on for its Friday night party. SAturday nights at The Gecko used to be Chupacabra - that, unfortunately, only lasted one night (imagine explaining that to your peeps!). Now the Tight crew (you know, the ones that brought you 300 West Hastings and Dicht every Thursday) are getting down on Saturdays. Their list of residents is almost as pathetically long as the Believe one (having more than a handful is so amateur) but the music is sensational so I'll turn a blind eye.

Saturdays at Tokyo Lounge were Sumo with Timeline and Martin, that is, until last night. Starting this Saturday you'll get a joint venture by ph1 and GetUpGet Down called Beat Boutique with Wood Christian Alvarez, Nima, and Julian Chow.

When I passed by the Lotus last Friday it seemed like the mod night was still doing its business in Honey. Does that mean that the Focus/Deepen drama was unecessary? That would really suck for Mr. Mark James! I think the mods are going to stay put because seems like Nicky Delgado (remember when he used to be part of Focus, went his own way and blew the city away by putting on the most successful electronic night ever?) and his crew will be taking over Fridays. But what will happen with Saturday? Perhaps they'll have fetish night every week.

In the rest of the world of electronica (as far as I know) Bent has moved from the third Thursday every month to the third Tuesday and as Wil put it, "it's gay before 23.00," so hurry. As well on Tuesday's is Reza and Lieutenant Dan's night at Lola's. RC and Hebegebe are playing together at school of mix as they do every last Saturday of the month except there's a free CD involved this time 'round.

I thought the summertime was a stagnant tie for clubs but if it is then this year it is an anomaly because this year Vancouver is at play and I'm loving it.
