Weekend Warrior - June 15, 2006

I can't believe it's the weekend already. I don't want to go out. There's more to life than partying, kids. There's the outdoors, there's making love, there's eating properly and then there's FUTBOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

WHO WANTS TO GO OUT WHEN THEY CAN WAKE UP AT THE CRACK OF DAWN AND SCREAM THEIR COUNTRY'S NAME TO COMPLETE STRANGERS??

And then there's the fact that last weekend could have been the best weekend of my of life. Partly because Argentina (IDOLOS!) massacred the Ivory Coast but there was all this music-related stuff that made my heart thump so hard. I don't want to brag but after the jump you'll get this weekend's smorgasbord and then a little story concerning a DJ-idolizing young woman and some very wrong behaviour. Or maybe I'll tell the story first...

It was young Stephanie's birthday and we were celebrating it in the front room of Vibes. It was so great that the patrons of the backroom party were ditching and so we were invited to to infiltrate. That was even greater because the sound was louder and by that time I was doing some interprative dance to some Bloc Party remix that I've heard too many times. But then - tragedy! - djjamese (the best DJ in the entire world) disappeared and Yan Solo sans puffy North Face parka appeared behind the decks. There was no way I was going to let him reduce the enjoyment of Stephanie's anniversary with life (nor with my dancing) so I did the unthinkable... I will never forgive myself for this but I'll never stop loving myself for it either.... I went up to the elevated DJ booth, raised my right hand and let my fingers tickle the levers and knobs like I was fondling my lover's hair. He grabbed my hand but I'm no pushover, I kept on doing it until he stormed off. Triumph! I could have cried but before a tear formed and in less time than one could mumble "Accordions have a special place in electronic music" KirkMFV got behind the decks and threw on Poney Part 1. How I didn't faint from the emotion I do not know. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Thank you.
