Well, it's about time. The last show got cancelled at the last minute, indie kids have been pouting ever since. But now Montreal's acclaimed Islands are scheduled to play a new and improved gig up at the UBC SUB Ballroom. If you didn't know it, lead singer Nick Diamonds grew up in hipster central up in Campbell River, BC, so for Islands to play in Van is about as close to a homecoming as you can expect.

At any rate, they sold out last time, but tix are still available for Saturday. Check it.

Islands
Musical guests Subtitle. Previously scheduled guests Besnard Lakes will not perform, unfortunately.
(According to Wikipedia, there's two bands called Subtitle, one from Sweden, one from London. Don't ask me).

Ugh... their opening for Metric in Toronto was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Anyway, they were being booed by everyone, mostly directed at the lead singer, since the strings section was awesome, and then he got all defensive and started arguing with the audience.

"Yeah? Well you know that hand in my pocket commercial? '*hand in my pocket, hand in my pocket...*' Well that guy RIGHT THERE wrote that!"
