Saturday Night Benefit - Help Richard Fight The Dread Pirate Bekins!
Most Beyond Robson readers will be familiar with our friend and ex-writer, Richard Murray. Yes, exactly... that tireless warrior of the Vancouver International Film Festival and the guy behind such entertaining pieces of human observation as Zombies On The Skytrain, Like A Phoenix, and Running Zombies Down In The Streets. Well Richard recently moved to Halifax and while he and his wife arrived safely, their belongings didn't. Everything they own is currently being held hostage by Bekins Moving and Storage after, by some shady mechanism, the final bill for the move ended up being a whopping $5000 over the estimated cost.
A benefit concert is going down at The Cobalt on Saturday night to raise funds for Richard's campaign against evil. There'll be live music of all flavours... blues from The Roothless Mayhem Band, punk rock from Drugs (nice name guys) and The Likely Rads, Slickjacks psychobilly, and even a bit of burlesque entertainment courtesy of The Girls of the Taboo Revue..., a raffle for paintings donated by Wendythirteen and Mr. Chi Pig, and, of course, an exceptional variety of premium and non-premium beers and spirits for sale.
For more background on the whole infuriating saga... or to make a donation to the cause... look here and here.
