Exclaim music mag is hosting its Spring Fling cross-Canada tour, and it hits Richard's on Richards tonight. This is only its second stop on an eleven-city tour, and features Montreal darlings Malajube and Champion (pronounced shawm-pee-own), along with local kids You Say Party! We Say Die!

Malajube is carrying tonnes of buzz on their shoulders, and with good reason. They've played packed shows at CMJ and SXSW, and their Montreal pop/rock/at-times-punk sound is amazing. The current album is Trompe l'oeil (Trick of the Eye) and contains gems such as Etienne D'Aout and Montreal -40c. We're lucky to be getting these guys fresh from SXSW, possibly still nursing hangovers, but definitely still smoking hot.

Champion is a serious Montreal DJ force, who killed at the coveted big free show at the Montreal Jazz Fest last year. Combining techno beats with striking live vocals and a serious amount of grinding guitars (he employs a band called the G-strings, making his live show incredible - much better than watching a dude behind some turntables). The most popular hit is "No Heaven", and is nominated in the upcoming Junos. The video also rocks, featuring different people from the neck down, stepping up to dance. It's fun to watch and the song is totally infectious, destined to be a major club hit for years to come.

Things kick off at 8pm at Richard's on Richards
1036 Richards (near Nelson)
Tickets: $15 at Zulu, Scratch and Red Cat or $20 at the door.
