Rio Bent is a Vancouver band. I've seen them before a little while ago and they were pretty good, a kind of punk and rocka-horrorbilly group. I think they did a thank at New Music Waste.

Consisting of guitarists/vocalists Brian Parker and Dan Smith, bassist/fiddler Mike Barer and drummer Vinay Jhass, GRD is a mainstay of the burgeoning Alberta live music scene.

Fri., June 29, 2007. SMASH THE SAUSAGE FEST @ The Cobalt (917 Main St.). 7:00PM. $10 (+/-).
A show celebrating women involved in punk, metal and generally in music... They will show off Grinding your axes, blasting your drums, screaming bloody murder, twangin your bases, writing a zine, putting on a show, diy strong and rockin out just as hard as the boys. Featuring Rebel Spell, The Homewreckers, Eleutheros, Sacraporia, Eye Eye, and Margeret Thrasher.. This ones for the ladies!

Sat., June 30, 2007. RHUMBA CALZADA @ David Lam Park (Outdoors) (200 Pacific Blvd.), 5:00PM. Tix. $0.
For those who are influenced and impressed with Salsa and Rhumba live music. You can dance all you want, it's a free show! Maybe pitchers of White Sangria too?

Sat., June 30, 2007. SWAYZAK @ Lotus Sound Lounge (455 Abbott St. @ Pender). 11:00PM, Tix. $18.
I can't say enough about Swayzak, they are simply one of my favorite atmospheric electro groups. They have incredible skill to offer. I've listened to these guys for years, and encourage anyone who loves music to give their last three albums a hear, they are incredible. I will send you a copy of their work to help out, if you're too cheap! In short, see this show!
