Secret Mommy Quintet @ Media Club: Very experimental electronica. Basketball, No Gold and Adjective will also throw down.

Saturday, Mar 8
A Fine Frenzy @ The Media Club: This red-headed California-based songstress sings and plays the piano for alterny-popsicles.
The Raveonettes @ Plaza: This NY/LA based band play rock that wanders close to becoming pschadellic. Be Your Own Pets will open up the show.
Aaron Cadwaladr @ Main Street Heritage Hall (Day One): This Vancouver folk player calls Neil Young an influence.
Two Hours Traffic @ Railway Club: This pop quartet hails from Charlottetown have been featured in a hot-tub scene in the OC. They've been getting recent air-time on Much, too. The Awkward Stage, and Buffalo Swans will open.
The Satellite Nation @ Media Club: The Satellite Nation is originally from Australia, but has relocated and is now based in our fair city. They play music that reminds me of Brand New and Taking Back Sunday. UTS and The Last Scene will join them for this show.

Sunday, Mar 9
Aaron Cadwaladr @ The Naam (Day Two): See above.
Veda Hille @ W.I.S.E. Hall: She reminds me a bit of Anathallo or Sufjan Stevens, though I don't think she's playing Christian tunes.
Agent Orange @ Balmoral (Sold Out): Surf-punkers from the 80's with Loose Tooth, China Creeps
Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem @ St. James Community Hall: Roots-folk quartet from Connecticut

Club Thing - Yoav

Tuesday, Mar 11
Yoav @ Media Club: This guy is pretty original. With beats and instrumentals that are both electronic and organic and a voice that is sometimes Jay Malinowski, sometimes Mike Skinner...just check out the video above.
Raine Madia @ Commodore: I mentioned Maida, the leader of OLP, last week. As you can see, he's got another Vancouver date promoting his solo act.
dna6 @ Plaza Club: This local hip-hop trio claim Miles Davis as an influence. They infuse that love for jazz into tracks inspired by TCQ and K-OS.
We Just Stole a Car @ Railway Club: Experimental, improvisational and instrumental. The Rub and The MAOIs will also be playing.

Wednesday, Mar 12
Way to Go Einstein @ Railway Club: More local alt-rock, this time inspired by such acts as Radiohead, PJ Harvey and Sigur Ros. You can also expect Mani Khaira, and Hannah Georgas.

Thursday, Mar 13
Catlow @ Biltmore: Female indie-rock-popper from Vancouver.
Brick House @ Fairview Pub: I know a lot of people that love this 'party-blues' group who are the resident band over at The Yale.
The Easy Brothers @ Pat's Pub: This Vancouver-based punk/ska band will play 2 sets. Hellcats and Bulldogs will open.

I saw Fond of Tigers open for Tortoise, and they came close to overshadowing those kings of instrumental rock... I'd highly recommend that anyone who has a chance to see 'em does so.

Anybody else got some highlights from this batch of shows?

Thanks for the feedback, Jon! I might try to head over to 1067 tonight as I've never been there. Anyone got any opinions on this underground back-alley venue? Seems pretty cool

Nice summary !! Very nice!

Some corrections:

Be Your Own Pet
ATCQ
Daryl Neudorf is not of the New Pornographers

Other than that, well done. I have nothing further to add, since this week looks like an all-"classical" week for me.

Ami,
I used to occasionally go to 1067 a couple years back. Was usually a good time, intimate and cozy venue with cheap drinks.
otto.

Sounds great Otto. Another chance missed to check it out this Friday, I'll have to make it out there another night!
Thanks for telling me what you think of it
