Girl Talk Takes Over the Commodore

Girl TalkContributed by Jenn Perutka

I'm bruised, beaten, and drenched in my own and strangers sweat. This is all the result of the best concert I've attended all summer: Girl Talk. Promoting his new album Feed the Animals, Gregg Gillis brought his masterpiece mash ups to The Commodore last night and left the entire venue with dance fever.

In my entire history of concerts at that venue, I have never seen the floor so packed and security so dumbfounded. After the third song the crowd began to rush the stage and surrounded Gillis and his two laptops. Concert goers leaped into the crowd, moshing occurred in all corners, and looking back on security they were in complete awe of the situation at hand. There was no stopping us.

We served justice to Gillis' dance beats with our sick moves, and a man who can make you jump so passionately to American Idol washout Kelly Clarkson has to be given some credit. His mash ups provide such a great variety which translated into the mix of people in attendance last night. With Lil' Wayne's "A Milli" to Neutral Milk Hotel "Holland, 1945," fans of all shapes, size, and ages joined together and shared appreciation for the man known as Girl Talk.

Leaving the crowd in a musical harmony, Gillis could very well be our first step to world peace.

Do you know what moshing is? The crowd was doing everything but. It was nothing but good times that night (unless you were one of the unfortunate ones to be rudely shoved by security guards).
