Kidnap Kids, Chris a riffic, The Nihilist Party, Thee Ahs @ The Zoo Zhop
Vancouver's contribution to all things twee pop just got a little better. Enter the Thee Ahs. Twee as fuck. Last night at the Zoo Zhop the comic-loving pop piece performed welcoming pop chords -- a fitting welcome for the early Vancouver spring.

Chris-a-riffic. Always excitable and revered in sing-a-long crowds. Chris engaged the crowd in a Canadian geography lesson song. Ok, educational. Fair enough. Also inspirational on the next number. Can you sing Kum Ba Yah at a show not in a cheesy way?! I've never heard a rendition of Kum Ba Yah sung by an entire crowd so enthusiastically.

The madness continued with the Nihilist Party. Hushed, dark sweaty rap beats.

Kidnap Kids!. Easily the crowd darlings from last year's Shindig, these brats from North Van continue to play crowd favourites of high school life gone wrong, pedophilia and makeout parties.

The local, homegrown, ever-revolving members of the supergroup that is the Greenbelt Collective never cease to amaze how they can skillfully blend all 14 musicians into a songs that soar with melodies and joy.
