A Fake Jazz Rebirth

Posted by Steve Louie / March 5, 2010

shearing pinxFake Jazz is back. The Wednesday weekly exhibit that took place at the Cobalt since 2006 has a new home at Lick @ 455 Abbott Street. First night featured experimental stalwarts Ahna, Stamina Mantis, Yellowthief and Shearing Pinx. It looks to be a steady and exciting buildup each Wednesday night with new and regular bands/artists/musicians eager to improvise and perform. It's been a long time coming.

The lineup for the next two weeks:

MARCH 10TH

Red Clover
Nam Shub
Whip of the UFO
Plastic Forecast

MARCH 17TH

Nihilist Party
Rape Fantasty
Gross Placentas
Kalki

Fake Jazz Wednesdays will also host its first ever FJW Festival at the end of the month (March 24th-March 28th) held at the Western Front and various locations around the city. Festival passes are $25 @ Audiopile.

Performances at the festival include KK Null (from Japan), Aerosol Constellations, Magnetic Ring, Empress, V.Vecker, Glaciers, Ejaculation Death Rattle, Noise Pancakes and more...
