20100315-Aidan Knight & Dan Mangan.jpg Video: Aidan Knight and Dan Mangan Perform "Jasper" Together

I recommend watching this sweet live video of Aidan Knight performing his song "Jasper" with Dan Mangan.

Shot by Dan Mangan's brother, Neil Mangan, the two musicians stopped for a jam session outside while passing through the rockies -- nice scenery and song. Check it out below!

Bend Sinister Make Progress on New Album

Bend Sinister has an extensive update on the progress of their next album. It sounds like the band worked really hard during the Olympics, recording and performing. Now, they just have some mixing left to do on the album. Can't wait for this one.

Secret MGMT Experience in Vancouver

Ok, this isn't so much music news about Vancouver but something involving the Brooklyn duo, MGMT, is happening in Vancouver today. Not really sure what "the experience" is per se but the details will be released at 4 p.m. Apparently, the "MGMTMobile" will be in town. Once the details of the vehicle's whereabouts are released, the first 10 people to find it will be part of "a special MGMT experience." I would try to attend this if I wasn't working. Not knowing what this experience means is killing me! Keep an eye out for details here.

New music venue in Vancouver

In case you haven't heard, the previous owners of the unfortunately late venue, Richards' on Richards, have officially decided to open a club. This club is basically the same set-up as Richards but is three levels, a nightclub on the weekends, and on Seymour Street. It's called 560. The owners plan to have live shows during the week and dancing on the weekends. I'm just excited to have another music venue in Vancouver, and potentially a good weekend night spot as well.

Hands-down, Richards was my favourite live music venue in Vancouver so I can't wait to see what the set-up is like at 560. Apparently, it'll have a dance floor in the unisex bathroom. I don't know about that part though. I feel like things could get a little messy.

The club was open for a couple of nights during the Olympics but there are still some finishing touches being applied. The official opening night is March 26th.

Prairie Cat's New Video

I know I wrote about Prairie Cat last week but he released a new video a couple of days after that post! I must post it. I can't resist! It's for his song "Never Right."

Bodhi Jones - Walking on a sign (Live at the Cultch)

Also, here's a pretty good live video of Vancouver's Bodhi Jones opening for the Fugitives at the Cultch.

Stay tuned for next week!

If you want to send Beyond Robson some news about your band or a band you know a lot about, please do!

when the Richards people first mentioned this new club a few years back they called it a high end club for young professionals. House music, a dress code and really expensive drinks! They might have changed their minds since but this club looks like it could just be another shit hole like the many others here in this city. I really hope Im wrong!

Yeah, I really hope it doesn't end up being a high-end club. I'm also a little skeptical but if it's going to be a venue for live music during the week, then I'm happy. I really miss Richards. It was grungy but it was an amazing live venue in my opinion.

But the dance floor in the bathroom thing really makes me wonder/worry about what this place is going to be like.
