The beginning of the bubble?

Funding for homelessness fosters homelessness? Put them all in BC Place? Is this victorain London? Jesus. If you think homelessness is perpetuated by government interference, how is it that Campbell's cuts to Family Services, Addiction services, BC Housing, and Welfare have resulted in a TRIPLING of the homeless population? It seems as though de-regulation is not the answer either.

SROs: A stinging new city staff report on housing concludes that the poor and marginalized are scrambling to keep a roof over their heads.

Which is why we should declare a moratorium on evictions.

Or bomb the Olympics.

Or read former Vancity Mayor Harcourt's stinging report on the state of our cities. Not likely, since the Tories didn't win a single seat in any of Canada's three largest cities.

Pickton: Cops to blame?

Global warming is an unproven theory. Trying to stop it will cost the economy dearly and accomplish nothing. It is being promoted by environmentalists as a cynical ploy to raise money: Trust us, we're media.

NHL Allstar Slam dunk contest may have been a big mistake.

Mount Pleasant opens tonight. The movie, that is.

Or you could go see Moving Pictures, Canadian Films on tour.

Like many, I just feel angry about the trends we are seeing in our world class city. It doesn't stop there either, it seems to be a global phenomena. The overall tone is basically doom and gloom. I started to feel uneasy when the Campbell Government started putting the squeeze on social services, and when 9/11 occured, I knew we were in for a real shitstorm.

Sure, historically things have probably never been better for so many, but when I look around me all I can see is the majority of workers practically enslaved to profits that really only benenfit that tiny fraction of the populace. I guess this is how economics plays out, and I certainly don't have the answers , but I often feel I'd rather not be around to see the havoc on it's way.

Look for extreme security and loss of fundamental rights in the near future. Every future scenario involves large populations of marginalized poor, so don't expect anything to change for the better.

Umm, I'd appreciate it if you don't mix articles from The Onion [nhl] with real news.

NHL Slam Dunk = Excellent article.

But I hate Bettman, so I'm deeply biased.
