072507_mb.jpgCrude Awakening. Thousands of litres of crude oil spewed from a ruptured pipeline in North Burnaby. That's what we get for giving our pipelines to Americans.

Richmond settles and Surrey on verge, but Vancouver civic strike continues. What do those cities have that we don't? Oh yeah, not Sam Sullivan.

'Extreme recycling' urged as way to cope with garbage strike. No word on whether this will be an event at the X Games.

Top ten crash sites. Notice how most of them are on the freeway? Let's put way more cars on there. That'll be fun. Like bumper cars.

Then we can get rid of all traffic safety measures! Oh wait, that helps? Wow, reverse psychology totally works.

A rare piece of good news for The First Peoples, Native Education Centre to stay open.

Overlapping claims a thorny obstacle to treaty settlements. If the savages can't even agree amongst themselves, then why should we bother? Oh yeah, Deltaport expansion.

The Tsawwassen - - where do the NDP stand?. "In light of the monumental decision confronting the Tsawwassen First Nation, it is disappointing to watch as the NDP sit on the fence once again, when faced with a difficult decision." Yeah man, thinking about issues is for fools. Compromise is for pussies. Weighing options is for girly men.

The next station is... Langara or Punjabi Market? "But this is a classic case of multi-cultural ethnic blackmail. Vote against our wants and you're a racist". Yeah, brother. Tell it like it is. Tough love. Too bad if those liberals can't handle the truth.

Credit Check:
- 10 Immigration Canada outlaws the surnames Singh and Kaur citing that too many people have them. Turns out government bureaucracy is both inconvenient and racist.

Where is Vancouver's great online news source?

While I usually dig your smugness, you should have a look at the design of these freeway crash sites. Narrow lanes, short merge and exit ramps. Old technology is causing the crashes, not volume.

I have no explanation for 88th and King George though - must be a Surrey thing.

88th and KG has always been really bad. People speed and try to race lights while 88th (heading East) has a hill, so if you go flying over you probably won't see the red light on the other side to stop in time. Also, it's a major artery for those coming from places like Langley and heading to the Alex Fraser Bridge since 88th turns into Nordel Way.

Actually, 88th and King George is a basin where Bear Creek, King Creek, and Quible Creek all flow. North, South, East, and West all have hills. Deadly place.

@BZ. Good point. But I still don't see how widening the freeway in some parts, particularly the Port Mann, will do anything to reduce freeway deaths, unless they upgrade the exits you speak of.
