082807_morningbrew.jpgVPD calls involving mentally ill up 100 per month over last year (as) specialized VPD unit recommended in 2006. OMG, why would we want a specialized unit or whatever? They are mental! Shouldn't they go to that new Riverview condominium place? I think they even have a Starbucks there for them.

Credit Check: - 5 The VPD are having a hard time finding 100 new recruits amidst an uber hot BC job market. Great. It's nice to know that the police and Burger King are competing for manpower.

We send 'our boys' to find Bin Laden and end up fighting a war with a people so proud and fierce that nobody has ever conquered, end up backing some druglords, until Opium production in Afghanistan soars to record levels, so that back in Vancouver, the heroin overdoses are so extreme, that people forget that you're spending all their money on a war with no money for something as immoral as drug addiction...

Let's cheer on our boys! It's time to get behind Vanoc and help make 2010 Games a triumph!!! Then he starts with "I expect to be moderately inconvenienced by the 2010 Olympics". Oh well at least you won't be thrown out of your ubiquitous green glass condo to make room for, well, ubiquitous green glass condos. Good thing you don't have to feed 2 kids without their dad on the most embarrassing welfare checks in the country. Good thing your next meal won't be from a food line. Good thing your wife didn't just die of a heroin overdose. Alan Ferguson you interminable, cotton-eared yuppie douche.

Has the City of Vancouver landed a knock out punch? I hope precious few share your juvenile approach to labour relations, which in this case you compare to a boxing match. This is our workforce, we need to protect them. Or maybe you want to export our entire workforce to South American Free Trade zones?

Slow news day... CKNW'S Jon McComb is trying to bring back the clothesline -- Are you for or against clotheslines?

You'd think a major paper like 24hrs would have some kind of editor type person to say. "Yeah, hey guys, that might be a wee bit tasteless for a cover, let's run with that clothesline exposé.

Or at least: Six months have passed since Gordon Campbell promised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 33 per cent by 2020, and since then the public has heard little about how this goal will be attained. Oh yeah, sorry. Local disasters are suuuuper hot right now.

"If we can't build houses for poor people on our own, why should we expect bobsledders and speed skaters to do it for us?" Good question. I don't think getting behind VANOC is going to help on that one.
