B.C. to sign carbon trading deal. I wonder how many carbon credits we'll get for Gateway. Adding lanes reduces gridlock which buys us, what, 3 years before the freeway is congested again? Oh man, when I was in the loony bin all we had to listen to was Rock 101.1 through the hospital speakers, so when they asked about your weirdest addiction I said, "We're all addicted to Oil". Then Dean or Chase asked what is to be done, and I said "We know what we have to do, we're just not doing it, that's the nature of addiction". Then they said something about the economy coming to a halt and made a bunch of screeching sound effects.
Non-profit agencies to run low-income hotels for B.C. which is a good temporary step, but let's get real here, the ghettoization of the DTES cannot continue. Concentrated poverty is a self fulfilling feedback loop. Getting charities to run these run-down rat shacks is passing the buck. How hard is it to comprehend? BUILD HOUSES! I don't care if you gotta blackmail developers into including non market housing in their Coal Harbour condos, just build homes.
And while we're at it, let's change our attitudes on addicts.
While I might not go so far as to consider myself a Friend of The Stadium, I am definitely turning around on the idea since I moved to Gastown. Call me a hypocrite, but, like Woodwards, there has to be some incentive for development down here or else the place will never change. Since corporations are the largest taxpayers and taxes are what pay for housing (and yet another budget surplus), and since soccer moms are going to drive out to Swanguard and give their money to Burnaby while polluting the air, and since the place is vacant anyways, and since it'll help connect the Burrard inlet to False Creek I've changed my tune on the proposed stadium. Besides the dude who runs the Stadium Now is really cool.
Hey speaking of the seawall, it could be open in days. Pretty soon assholes from all over the world will be able to start walking on the bike path.
Hey speaking of Stanley Park, the parks board has smelled the horsetails and nixed the plan to turn it into Jurassic Park. Not including the dinosaurs at the lawn bowling club.
Send a letter to Mayor and Council urging them to oppose HOV lanes on 12th Ave. I'm sorry, but don't you want HOV lanes?
Parents should brace for more school closures in the province. Yeah, who needs more over-educated leftist baristas starting up blogs? Or: What came first, the private school or the closed school?
Victoria police release FOI documents relating to probe of police chief. This little piggy went crying all the way home.

I think you don't want HOV lanes when building them is defacto acceptance of Gateway.
