103107_mb.jpgInventory of alternative media in Vancouver. What? No Beyond Robson? *Inserts tongue into cheek thusly. At least I get a nod of support from the ever ad hominem Jamie Lee Hamilton. Sweet!

Vancouver's dog-strategy task force put down. WTF? There was a dog-strategy task force? There are three times the number of human beings sleeping on the streets than 5 years ago, but yeah, totally, that bitch with the thousand dollar toy poodle who can't pick up her dog's turd because she has a decaf soy latter in one hand and her cell phone in the other gets a task force.

Province adds up to about 730 individual units of pre-existing, single-room housing catering to low-income residents. If they are already existing then how are they being added?

UN observer blames misguided policy for homelessness wave.

But it won't bring down the Campbell government, the only thing that can do that in BC is scandal.

Meanwhile the feds are cutting 60 Billion in taxes on one hand,
while falling short on security and environment, getting rich while our cities are at the tipping point. The latter of course because Chilliwack pulls about as much electoral clout as downtown, and their the ones who vote Conservative.

Speaking of which, Metro Blogging Vancouver defends the suburbs. Have you ever even been to the Granville Strip on a Friday night? It is the single most frightening thing ever.
Province knew for months about troubles with abuse program. Didn't you know? That's how we do things in BC. We wait until its too late.

Man who filmed deadly taser incident suing RCMP for return of film. Unfortunately, man who sued RCMP for return of taser incident film was then tasered to death.

Tobacco like warnings for car ads?

Betty K for Mayor.

Myspace featured artist is Nardwuar: "If you don't know Nardwuar (the one from Vancouver, B.C., in case you know another), he's been called one of Canada's national treasures. He just put up his own MySpace page, and has his new album, Gassy Jack and Other Tales up for you to listen to".

Alison Bodine, Political Organizer and Social Justice Activist is having her final verdict delivered by CBSA today. There will be a support rally at 12:30pm in front of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Offices (300 W. Georgia St, Downtown Vancouver).

I think the reason Beyond Robson didn't get a tip of the hat is because the overall content quality ranks in at about a 4 on a scale of 10. Realistically, Morning Brew is the only aspect that's consistently consumable. And even then, it could use a once-over before pushing the "publish" button.

(See definitions of they're, their, and there)

I left this comment on Jamie's page, unsure she will accept it:

Ah yes, Ad Hominem attacks again, eh? I'm not blinded by ideology, which is why you see fit to label me a hypocrite. You and DERA and the rest are all the same. you poo-poo any progress, intent on the further marginalization/ghettoization/isolation of the "Oldtown" community. It was the same with woodwards. Pick your battles. We need to bribe developers into giving us concessions or they'll just be content to watch the DTES rot from within, and you my dear are at the core. People are already chugging out to Burnaby in their SUVs giving tax money to that city. If the stadium was built on a transit hub, tying together the Sea Wall, Skytrain, Seabus, and West Coast Express. It makes environmental sense, and it makes fiscal sense. This is why you'll never be a politician, you are unable to look beyond ideology, the same insult you cast upon APC. You, my dear, are the hypocrite. Besides, how can it be public lands if one guy owns it? There is already a helicopter pad there, is that public? And where do you think the money comes from to build social housing? Homeowner taxes? Nope, businesses pay 10 times the amount of taxes. The revenue generate by the stadium could pay for thousands of units. But you don't want that, you want to appear righteous, while starving your community. We can make sure Kerfoot includes housing in any development he chooses, because its going to happen. This is called pragmatism. Look into it. It may not be ideal, but its the reality, something that you are quickly losing your grasp on.
