Morning Brew: January 15th
I don't really have time to read the whole transit plan, but wonderkid Paul Hillsdon does. Basically, this looks like what we should have had in place for 2005 let alone 2020. They've been talking about the Evergreen Line for years, they've been talking about a UBC line for years, and we've been calling for more buses since like forever. Oh and who's gonna pay for it and whatnot. It's all there. Paul's got you covered.

While The Sun has this: "Premiers once left their mark on British Columbia by building massive dams and blacktopping the land with highways.Today it's apparently all about building bigger bus fleets, creating more urban train lines and putting in bicycle lockers at Metro stations". Did they cancel Gateway or something?

Vancover police union sues over private security. I never thought I'd hear myself saying this but, go cops!
As A federal decision to allow more foreign workers into British Columbia handicaps more than 90 per cent of small contractors, according to an industry head. Well we're gonna need somebody to blame when the economy finally collapses.

The provincial government wants to double transit trips by 2020 with this new plan. Now wouldn't it have been an idea to give commuters from Surrey and beyond (places this transit plan targets) a viable transit option before expanding highways.
