012108_mb.jpgCSIS on lookout for violent protests at 2010 games. In case they don't find anything, they'll quickly assemble a crack team of agent provacateurs to start some.

"Ricardo Francis Scarpino, a 37-year-old man from West Vancouver, has been identified as one of the two victims shot dead in front of a Vancouver restaurant Saturday in the city's latest gangland-style shooting". He wasn't actually a gang member, but with a name like Ricardo Scarpino the other gangs weren't taking any chances.

Vancouver police considering security measures for high-end eateries. Spending our money so the rich can eat safely next to gang members. Awesome.

Oppal wants to limit probe in Paul case. Lawyers for B.C.'s attorney-general argue for prosecutorial immunity. Wouldn't that sort of defeat the whole point of having a probe?

Vancouver Mayor on national homeless task force. Politicians across the country want to know how he can claim he's actually helping the homeless and then, without any drugs, fall asleep every night.

Campbell's clamshell never should have left the drawing board. That's fun.

Transit plan a warmed over list.

Planned carbon tax endangers B.C.'s fragile economy. Then change the economy.

Rare slough threatened by highway. A slough! Oh no! Not a slough! What's a slough?

I'm saying don’t build this highway near bog.

Or if you're dumb you can always ask rhetorical questions like how else are we gonna ship our food from china without damaging our own farms?

History of Freeway Insanity and Expensive Transit Announcements. Isn't it weird that when Campbell was mayor of Vancouver he was instrumental in opposing the Freeway, but now that he's Premier he's hell bent on it?

"Then change the economy."

thats why I keep coming back every morning: insightful, educated and in-depth political commentary that other local newsmedia fail to deliver.

I can't tell if that's supposed to be sarcastic.

well...the idea of "changing the economy" is a extremely simplistic. Thats not how reality works. You are the economy, as am I and everyone you see. The government plays the most vital role in our economy's management but they aren't very good at what they do, and the more they meddle the worse things tend to get.

We could definitly use some government programs to make our economy more localized, sustainable and to inspire ingenuity, but what it comes down to is our own individual - and collective efforts.

you don't like the economy? why not start an local consumer union that promotes the localization of food production? if you get strong enough you'll surely have an impact on the civic economy, thus changing it through your own initiatives.
