022508_mb.jpgIf Baker blows, asteroids strike and SARS arrives the true redneck will come out, as Pete McMartin fantasizes about killing his neighbour and firebombing the Downtown Eastside. What makes you think the suburbanites will be better off than the very people who are practically already living in a post-apocalyptic nightmare?

British Columbians are voting with their feet. And they're opting for suburbia. Apparently this guy's argument that suburban sprawl isn't a bad thing is that census numbers show that a record amount of people are moving there. What a piece of logic. So, smoking isn't bad for you because so many people are doing it? Or are suburbs going to become The New Slums?

Canada and the U.S. have signed an agreement that paves the way for the militaries from either nation to send troops across each other's borders during an emergency. An emergency, like, oh say for example, the US running out of resources?

Campaign disclosures overdue. "But from time to time, a moment of such surprising sanity occurs at city hall that even my cynicism and crankiness go on brief vacation". Lucky bastard.

Bars, pubs sport new decal to keep criminals out. To qualify for the Barwatch program, bars must be approved by police, have metal detectors and retina scanners, install a missile defence shield, and launch its own surveillance satellite.

Parks commissioner chokes on city's call for $350,000 budget cut. Pffft, who needs parks anyways. We've got the Olympics to worry about, not some people who can't afford membership at a real gym. God.

So who's winning the race for Vancouver mayor on Facebook? A surprise answer. Its Trevor Linden, isn't it?

Who Gets $2 Billion for Job Skills?. Its Trevor Linden again, isn't it?

If we aren't already.

^Thanks for all the comments Chris. I don't always reply, but I appreciate them nonetheless.

Not sure of the details of the agreeement (im guessing that the country to recieve the foreign troops would still first have to authorize the move) but i think on one hand, Canadians do take for granted that we would rely heavily on the states army under a serious attack but at the same time, this is very scary at the same time, even more so how quiet this deal was.

My fav tv show of recent is the CBC show Intelligence and one of the subplots is about an American interest group/corp that is secretly trying to aquire the rights to Canadian water. This shit is pretty scary indeed.

No worries, I just like venting about the odd article now and then.
I didn't hear anything about the agreement either. The Americans really like messing with other countries 'under the table' ( and directly ), it's a huge list. This will become more and more of an issue unfortunately.
