Morning Brew: March 19th

031908_mb.jpgYou know, some days Morning Brew just doesn't want to get off the toilet. I think I'll be in here for a while.

There are reports Translink is going into real estate. Yeah, no conflict of interest there. Next stop? The new community of Falcon Heights. Oh come on. They need a Skytrain. So what if its somewhere between Mission and Lillooet? But hey, to be fair, We did build this city on boosterism.

While Province journalist Torben Rolfsen pulls out the tried and true 'transit is for losers' routine: "Is this really a solid business plan: Marketing condos to SkyTrain passengers? Much of the ridership would get turned down for an Army & Navy card, let alone approved for a mortgage". Which is about as funny as heroin. Although on one hand, I'm glad the Province are finally calling their reporters comedians.

B.C. okays controversial Tsawwassen power line. "The final approval comes after more than three years of extensive public consultations, two independent studies, input from federal and provincial health organizations and submissions from hundreds of local residents" All of which were then systematically dismissed.

Cranes gone wild. First we take Manhattan, then we take your car.

Ladner's 'congestion tax' proposal panned by Sullivan. Its called an idea Sam, get some.

Port Mann project passes major milestone with Bill 14. "Pro-Transportation group says public-private partnerships have proven themselves here in B.C." Now that is c-o-m-e-d-y! It works on so many levels! "Pro-transportation" is just a genius way of saying pro-automobile, sure to rile up 'the anti-gateway gang'. And P3s proving themselves? Oh man, oh stop it. So good. Because their are like hundreds of examples of them leaving taxpayers on the hook for millions of dollars, but, get this, this is too funny, instead they just say that they are awesome! How rad is that? ROTFL

More proof that EcoDensity is good for Developers: Historic Sun Tower to be converted to condos.

Risky business for women. What's that? Pretending to be a journalist? "I woke up at my boyfriend's the next morning wearing only one shoe, being like 'what the f--k happened?' More like: I opened the paper to see that 24 Hours stole my Facebook feed and used it as their top story, being like 'what the f--k happened?

Inquiry exposes rancor among police ranks. Does the name Rolo Tomassi ring any bells?

VANOC rejects boycott of Beijing Games. Hmmmm, I wonder why? One World, One Dream, Tons of Cash.

BC Hydro signs up to power 2010 Games. Oh good, I'm so glad it wasn't PEI Hydro.

Speaking of Hydro, C Restaurant, Raincity Grill and Nu Restaurant + Lounge Observe Earth Hour. I just hope that nobody gets killed like in that CSI episode. Actually, scratch that.

How are you any different than Rolfsen, Sean? You post depressing news items and make sarcastic comments. Fish, meet barrel.
