072208_mb.jpgPremier says border line-ups shouldn't be what's remembered about 2010. No, apparently we'd rather be remembered for our awesome display of open drug use and third-world squalor.

Most British Columbians would welcome addiction housing in their neighborhood, suggests poll. But when asked about hipsters playing soccer, they were less supportive.

Tough week for the homeless. Yeah but its good to keep them on their toes. You know, so they don't get too comfortable.

NPA using old anti-NDP tactic. Which would have worked, except that nobody gives a shit.

Why plague people with trash talk when they've got worries enough? Um... its not 'trash talk', its information, you know, like the media is supposed to give you when it comes to things like Peak Oil, instead of just trashtalking it.

BC Hydro should shed some light on downtown blackout. Oh man, I wonder how long buddy was waiting to use that one.

Canada, the water - WTF?

Seems to me the police are doing only half the job. When the monasteries closed in England in the 16th century and vagrants flooded into the towns, the good townsfolk rounded them up, branded them with a V on their foreheads and ran them out of town. That way everyone else could recognise these vagrants as the social pariahs they were. Now branding might seem a tad extreme in these kinder/ gentler times---so what about a tattoo--or better yet hand them out T shirts with a nice bright yellow H sewn on the sleeve

Saving the Heatly Block will be tough, my understanding was that library was going in, discussion was over...

Your understanding is incorrect. There has been no discussion regarding Heatley Block. The city's trying to slide this in the back door. In fact, neighbourhood 'visioning' processes have specifically advocated for retaining the little heritage aspect that remains on what is otherwise an especially bleak strip of Hastings.

We would like a library - we'd just like a say on how our community is developed. Many would like the city to take up Strathcona School's offer to locate it there, and thereby not only retaining two heritage properties but providing much needed seismic upgrade for an otherwise seriously neglected school.
