Morning Brew: The Setting Sun
Hey, where's my grant? I can be creative. No you can't. You can't even come up with a creative subject for an editorial. Complaining about the arts getting funding is like complaining about people who eat fancy food.
More gold from the Sun: "So it's August and oil soared to yet another record high. Expect it to hit $200 a barrel soon. At least, that was what experts told us a couple of months ago. Then the price dropped. And dropped some more". You realize you sound like a grade fiver, right? IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS! Let's give it a couple more months. The market is fucked like that. ie. wrong.
Meanwhile, the Sun's Westcoast Home's section shocked by price drops. "I wonder how much longer than Sun is going to keep Westcoast Homes alive in its current form... There comes a point where descriptions of Kohler faucets and wood-like cabinets aren't satisfying".
You thought China faked it? Well the Vancouver Sun stole this photo of a temple in Vietnam for a story on Buddhism in China -but "really - what's the difference between Chinese and Vietnamese Buddhists? They're both Asian, aren't they?"
One dead after stabbing at Vancouver nightclub. Atlantis is still a nightclub? Wow, I haven't heard about that place since... since, well, the last stabbing.
Detox centre above Insite cannot meet demand. 4 Pillars much?

I hassle you a lot Sean, and probably will continue, but today 's MB had better stuff than usual.
agree with QT this was a good morning brew. That Vancouverism article was excellent and a contrast to what was said by Thom a few years ago, I noted the flaw in Vancouverism in a post a few weeks ago. http://vancitybuzz.blogspot.com/2008/07/vancouverism-new-urbanism.html
Wow the Urban Dweller actually like a Sean Orr post, WTF the world must surely be coming to an end.
"The Urban Dweller" gets top marks for referring to himself in the 3rd person. A for awesome.
Best part of that story about the Vancouver Sun stealing a photo? The journalist who did it is the paper's ethics writer.
I'm still away from Vancouver, but I have a sense of renewal with the Morning Brews, and that's awesome. I like Jon and Sean and Anna and JZ and Ryan Weal's articles, which are the ones I've followed more closely. Cheers, Sean. I still have not met you in person! Best wishes.
