New Year's Parties for your Broke Ass

20061231_newyears.jpg
The holidays take their toll on your bank account, and by the time New Year's Eve rolls around you may find yourself scrounging for a party fund by bowling over binners for empties (which you may have emptied yourself). Don't fret... there are a couple of options for partyers (like myself) who didn't budget for the big night:

Hoko's, $1
Performances by Sean Wesley Wood & Vancouver Vipers / Caravan / Treacherous Machete / John Dye & His Many Wives & Best Man. "Show up early, stay all night! Cheap drinks and tons of fun" @ Hoko Japanese House, 362 Powell. (All Ages)

The Cambie, $10
"Rock the night away at the cheapest place in the city with the fun-lovin' high energy, foot-stompin' howlin' rhythms of the Joey Only Outlaw Band." Drink specials all night and party favours. @ The Cambie, 300 Cambie Street, 10pm - 2am.

The Balmoral, $5
Salon des Bourgeoisie present a Five Dollar New Year w/ free champagne and Tara Ried Spoken Word at 1am. @ The Balmoral, 159 E Hastings (at Main).

So since you'll be saving a few bucks, the least you can do is put on a clean shirt, you bum.

Happy New Year, everyone!
