Bosman's Side Bar
Its time I let you in on a little secret, I just hope its not too late. A Myspace bulletin was floating around lamenting the demise of the unique downtown hideaway, saying the new owners are unhappy and aren't making enough money. If you've been there, then you know how rad Bosman's really is, and you'll be down there in a flash to convince the new owners that the place is viable. If you've never been there, basically it is a hole in the wall; a motel lounge that gives you free popcorn (originally intended to get around the liquor by-law that states you must intend to eat while drinking). You can see how saddened my brother and I are at the news, so please go down and support your local gnar bar, have some bro sodas on the cheap, and play a round of Golden Tee.

first time coming to this website. Loving this site! i've been trying to find local site about fashion and art.
Booooooooooooooooooo!
I'll miss you, Bosman's. Popcorn will forever taste bittersweet.
Free popcorn. Clever! haha
What a sad thing. I love this place. It was basically the LAST STAND for vintage watering holes in downtown Vancouver. I'm still mourning the loss of the Rose & Thorn a few years back. I thought this place was untouchable. Do we really need more high-end glamour palaces? Who am I kidding, they will mow this place down and build a condo right where it stands.
How much do they want for it?
They don't think indoor smoking is viable? They sound like a couple of cunts.
Do the owners drive a Mini?
It's still there? I thought it was gutted when the hotel was bought. We'll be there in a flash. Thanks for the info.
dude, i'm making the same face as you right now. if my other favourite hole in the wall bar closes, i might have to move.
noooooo! it's the only good place to drink downtown! of course, i heard they already jacked up the prices...
what's wrong with this town?
The Olympics?
the side bar hasn't been the same since they stopped letting you smoke in there. and you know what, 5.50 a pint isn't cheap and it's overrun on the weekends with idiot 19yr olds who can't handle their liquor. that being said, i will still miss it. I'm a nostalgia slut.
I've already found the new bosman's but I can't say where it is here, because once word busts out how awesome this place is, it will run the same course as bosman's, and the brickhouse.
I don't blame you. I held out on Bosmans until now.
no offense, but you lament a (rad) place closing down because they weren't getting enough business, yet you resisted telling the minions until now?
Yeah, I dunno, its not like I was struggling not to post, I just never did.
Devine: You've found the new Bosman's but you won't tell anyone where that is? Excellent! Good work at nailing the door shut and guaranteeing its demise! Yeah, let's not support local businesses; let's keep them all to ourselves so no one will ever find them and the owners will lose money -- just like at the Side Bar -- and knock that place down for condos too!
Devine, this town is filled with fucking geniuses like yourself.
Apparently its The Barclay Hotel on Robson.
Unfortunately, at the Barclay they only speak Portuguese, and in a very surly manner I might add. It's a silent Portuguese-only thing going on there. Luckily I speak fluent Portuguese, so they tolerate me to some degree. Just a bit of a warning.
the side bar has been a good run for many years. the girls caved in on the smoking, but on my shift, tuesday, we kept smoking till the end
gino (out of work owner)

oh! by the way you guys don't know what your talking about. the hotel was sold to people who didnot want anything to do with booze. the real reason we are out. if you drank at the bar long enough you would of known this.
