The Sean Orr Bump: Vote Carr in Vancouver-Centre
So Elizabeth May has been making a fuss in the blogoshpere with her recent victory over the shadowy Canadian TV Consortium and her recent remarks that may or may not have been doctored (or at least taken out of context), in which she calls Canadians stupid. But as witnessed down south, any attention is good attention, even if you're just putting lipstick on a pig (No, I am not calling Elizabeth May a pig. She looks more like a beaver anyways).
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Green Party member and supporter, and I ran in the last Provincial election under the Green banner. I must say however, that I was essentially just a name on a ballot, as I was the last of a full slate of candidates and had no campaign budget. But in the upcoming battle for Vancouver Centre, the Green's aren't phoning it in.
Former BC Green Party leader Adriane Carr has a real chance to become the first elected Green MP in Canada. I know its been said before, but this time she isn't the only one. Current independant MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast Blair Wilson recently joined the party after the grits didn't want to be attached to a scandal that he was eventually cleared of. Also, May could sneak out a win from foreign affairs minister, Peter "Who's David Orchard" Mackay.
But in Vancouver Centre, "all four national parties, including the Greens, are running high-profile candidates with lots of depth and/or political experience. Given how competitive this contest is, someone could take the seat with as little as 30 or 35 percent of the vote". This means that simply voting against Harper via the Libs, NDP, or Greens could actually elect him, a clear case for electoral reform. But in this riding, a vote for Carr won't be a throw away vote. She is experienced and savy and I know she believes in the platform above all else. The time is now.

Carr seems pretty nifty. She was excited when I took a MySpace-style photo with her at the Green Living Show.
