Go Fish - A Restaurant Line-Up That's Worth the Embarrassing Wait

In the land where quality of food is measured by line-ups, then Stepho's and Sophie's Cosmic Cafe are a gourmand's wet dream. Unfortunately, in real-world Vancouver, people are willing to starve and embarrass themselves for the sake of hype, a bland omelette, and skewer of chewy souvlaki.
Then there's Go Fish (1505 1st Avenue West, 604-730-5040). The frequently bustling False Creek fish and seafood shack, owned by Gord Martin of Bin 941-942 fame, is actually worthy of the queue, and has gotten me lining up with no complaints on many a summer's day.
Though the halibut and chips option seems to be a popular hit amongst the salivating clientele, it's the least exotic of their offerings, which range from chunky chowders to one-pounder sell-out shrimp specials and fantastic fish tacones. I can't get me enough of them fish tacones. And guh... the sandwiches, served with chipotle mayo on a outwardly crusty, inwardly soft, melt-in-your-mouth roll. And oh, the coleslaw. I frequently dream of Go Fish's light sesame coleslaw, a special concoction that makes its day-glo counterpart at KFC shiver in its boots.
Sure, any moderately sunny day will have Vancouverites lining up there in droves. It's a busy place. It may be hyped, but there's reason for it. Besides, at least this waterside line-up is ten times better than dealing with Davie Street or 4th Ave car exhaust, not to mention people like me who pass by, pointing and laughing.
Get some fishly goodies in your tummy near Fisherman's Wharf on False Creek. Just don't go on Mondays. They're "gone fishing". A-hoh-hoh-hoh.

Their Po'Boy Oyster burger is great too! Not deep fried, but grilled. Very tasty!
I love Go Fish!
