What I Love About This Place - Part 4

Having just returned from eight days in Ontario's lake and forest country, I'd like to remind all you Vancouver outdoor enthusiasts how lucky we are in regards to our poison ivy situation. Specifically speaking, there seems to be very little, if any, of it around.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I spend a lot of time hiking in the woods and I know that I've never seen the stuff around. I'm also damn sure that I've never walked through any either, because my body is in no way shy in showing its dislike for that wretched plant. About six years ago I got a case of poison ivy and one of the blisters was so big that it looked like I'd stuck half a grape on my ankle. Socks and any footwear aside from flip-flops were absolutely out of the question for over a week. So walk through the woods and enjoy the outdoors with impunity my friends, because lack of poison ivy is a wonderful thing. (Please note: my "with impunity" comment only relates to the danger/inconvenience of the aforementioned poison ivy. It has no bearing on large mammals who will eat you alive if you decide to camp out with a bacon double cheeseburger in your back pocket).

I know there is poison oak on vancouver island. I know of it around Great Central Lake, but not sure about poison ivy.
