CIBC Run For the Cure
The CIBC Run for the Cure is taking place this Sunday, October 1st, starting at BC Place Stadium. The nationwide run takes place annually to raise money for breast cancer research, a cause that statistics say will likely affect someone we know in our lifetime, and affected someone very close to me. I recently did a post about the AIDS walk in Stanley Park...and I didn't go. Not because I don't believe in the cause, but because I had other things I felt were more important to do on a Sunday morning. I meant to go all year, and then when it got closer to the event, it just seemed to get pushed to the bottom of my priority list. A likely story, I know, but I am grateful to everyone who participated.
So here is the information and you can decide for yourself. A donation is just as good as walking, and I at least plan on doing that this time. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation uses the money raised from the walk for research, education, and treatment for those affected by the disease. It is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Canadian women, but good news...according the foundation, the breast cancer mortality rate is at it's lowest since 1950! The money raised is helping, and the more awareness that is brought to the cause, the more money they make, and the more research they can do (I think we all know how it works...just a friendly reminder).
There is even an option to run 1K or 5K...and when I say run I mean walk if you want. If you can't make it or volunteer, you can of course still donate at anytime on the website.
