Harry's Spring Run Off - 8K to Get You Started

I'm running a marathon this year to raise money for Arthritis research and as I'm only a newish runner (and definitely a first-time marathoner!) I need all the help I can get. Luckily for me there is a new run being held in Vancouver this spring - Harry's Spring Run Off, sponsored by Harry Rosen, which will raise money to fight prostate cancer. As the first race of the year, it's an easy 8K, twice around the Brockton Oval loop in Stanley Park. The run was originally set to be around the seawall, but had to be revised due to storm damage and seawall closure. Like the scenery really matters though, because we all know it will still be pouring rain on March 11th. Even the name "Spring Run-Off" sounds like pouring rain! Gaa!
This is a run that's been popular in Toronto for a few years and has now spread out to Vancouver under the Canada Running Series umbrella (umbrella, ha! You'll need it! Can you tell I'm sick of this rain?) and I'm looking forward to it. I'm usually away or hungover for the Sun Run (it's always the Sunday after my birthday), so instead I'll be hitting most of the lesser-known ones. I'll let you know how they go.
Registration is $40 and open until March 7th.
