East Van Bike Polo
So its a Sunday and I noticed that there were no posts today, probably because everyone is outside getting spring freckles, mobile clubbing, dodging Vancouver drivers, and generally being all west-coasty. But of course I'm sitting here inside watching the Canucks get stymied by Giguerre, when I feel a flier poking me in my back pocket. Its a flier for East Vancouver Bike Polo's tournament last week that I totally forgot about. So, in the name of getting outside, I give you EVBP: They meet Saturdays at around 1pm on the tennis courts at Grandview Park on Commerical. They supply the mallets but you gotta bring your own bike, preferably a back up though as it looks pretty gnar. I'll stick with slacker soccer.
The Rules:
1) No Foot Downs. If you have to put a foot on the ground, you must ride 360 degrees before you can touch the ball again.
2) Score with the business end of the mallet. To score, you must hit the ball with the narrow/round end of the mallet, not the wide side. Its fine in regular play to move the ball around with any part of the mallet, but for a goal to count, you gotta smack it with the end.
3) After your team scores, all members of the team must circle back around their own end.
