The quest for the 2007 Canada Cup

canadacup20070627.jpgAs a sports fan planning for the long weekend, I have an embarrassment of riches from which to choose.

Besides the U-20 World Cup taking place at Swangard Stadium and the usual bevy of recreational activities available throughout the city, there will also be the 2007 women's Canada Cup softball tournament to watch.

Taking place at the Softball City Sports and Entertainment Complex in Surrey from June 30 until July 8, the Canada Cup will see four different tournaments taking place, with the 14th Canada Cup International Women's Fastpitch Tournament being the big draw.

Similar to the U-20 World Cup, the 14th Canada Cup will feature up to 14 top teams from around the world, with teams from Canada (including host White Rock), Australia, Chinese Taipei, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela all chasing Cup glory.

No outside food is allowed onto the Softball City premises so that fans may eat at the complex's fully licensed restaurant, the Extra Innings Sports Grill, which helps to offset facility costs--the menu features a wide variety of eats ranging from burgers and fries to salads.

Here is a complete list of Softball City etiquette

Tickets range in price from a $15.00 day pass to a $100.00 tournament pass and group rate are available.

Action kicks off on June 30, 2007 with the host team White Rock Renegades taking on Australia at 1 p.m. and Team Canada battling the Dominican Republic at 6:30 p.m.

Kari you are awesome. Thanks for covering sports and thanks especially for actually covering women's sports and not sidelining 'em.
