Let's get ready to Rock!
The last time I was in Vegas--which was quite some time ago--was the weekend of the Felix Trinidad-Fernando Vargas fight.
It was a frustrating situation as I wanted to spend the $200-something to get tickets, but none of my friends wanted to join me as we were leaving for L.A. the next day.
Not wanting to go it alone, I abandoned the plan, only to experience regret when I saw people driving by waving Puerto Rico flags (Trinidad's home country) signifying that Felix had beaten Fernando.
Although I've purchased many a pay-per-view boxing event since, another opportunity to watch a live boxing card hasn't presented itself until now.
There will be local boxing this weekend and it will take place at Richmond's River Rock Casino on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
The Rumble At The Rock card will feature Lennox Lewis' former sparring partner, Olympic silver medalist and Light Heavyweight Egerton Emba taking on Carl Gathright in the Main Event, which is set for seven rounds.
The undercards will feature some promising local talent including Super Middleweight Louis Sargeant, Cruiserweight Kevin Reynolds and Heavyweight Shane Andresson.
Tickets won't be quite as pricey as say the Trinidad-Vargas fight as Ticketmaster is charging anywhere from $95 and $125 for ringside seats and $30-80 for theatre seats.
Michael Buffer won't be present, but all the pugilists will get "ready to rumble" starting at 7pm.

Coo but we were apparently this close to have the Pacman come fight in Vancouver this Oct. But as boxing goes, Pac was mired in some legal/political bs between Arum and Goldenboy camps and he had to settle on fighting Barrera (unnecesarily again) instead of the brother of some other guy he beat.
This would have been the biggest boxing event in Vancouver ever aside maybe from the Ali/Chuvalo bout in the 60s/70s. It would have had more pinoys than the DMCs.
