Canucks beaching Orca Bay brand name
It seems like Vancouver's NHL team has the reverse Midas touch making bad decisions and seeing a lot of bad luck.
- They switched from the original blue and green uniforms to the horrible flying V and streaking skate logos (no it's not a plate of spaghetti).
- They've erred in a number of first round draft picks; taking busts Jason Herter, Libor Polasek and Dan Woodley and bypassing the likes of Martin Brodeur and Jaromir Jagr.
- They let go of good players Rick Vaive, Bill Derlago, Mike Peca and Cam Neely only to see them flourish on other teams.
- Power forward Todd Bertuzzi was suspended (deservingly) after sucker punching Steve Moore in 2004 denying the Canucks one of its most talented forwards for what could've been a long run.
- Former owner John McCaw sold to local owner Francesco Aquilini only to have Tom Gaglardi and Ryan Beedie challenge the deal.
- The 2006/07 Canucks had their postseason come to a pre-mature end after goalie Roberto Luongo, who was flawless in Game 5 against Anaheim, briefly take his eyes off the puck to argue a call and allow the winning goal.
The Canucks said farewell to a controversial part of its past when ownership changed the name of the company responsible for operating the franchise from Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment to Canucks Sports and Entertainment.
Goodbye Mark Messier, sayonara Stan McCammon, arrivederci John McCaw.
The Boston Red Sox did a number of things to "Reverse the Curse" of Babe Ruth.
Has Vancouver done the same?
