Canucks to take in your 2008 Hockey Pool
The regular season is upon us and Mats Sundin still hasn't signed but who cares?
It's hockey pool time and while many are predicting that the Vancouver Canucks will once again have trouble lighting the lamp, there are some Canucks that can aid you in your quest to win your pool and some money as well.
If you're in a hockey pool that relies strictly on goal and assist totals, Henrik and Daniel Sedin are the ways to go and if you have back-to-back picks you can grab them both; they are the Canucks' best offensive players.
Steve Bernier is expected to ride shotgun with the twins and might be valuable for garbage and tap-in goals as well as some assists.
Pavol Demitra might be a guy who can get you points but ever since netting 93 points with the St. Louis Blues in 2003, has failed to even crack the 65-point mark.
I'm in a Rotisserie-style pool where you go head to head based on a series of statistical categories, one of them being faceoffs won. I took Ryan Kesler, who won 720 faceoffs last year.
If you're looking for some dark horses, you might want to consider youngster Mason Raymond and former Leaf, Kyle Wellwood, they've shown some promise in the preseason.
If you're in a pool that has goalies? Go with captain Roberto Luongo.
Good luck.

Wellwood should only be considered if one of the stats in the pool is weight gained. He cannot resist the frosted donuts!
