Get E-xcited: Techvibes Massive 2006
Continuing with my trend of getting you the latest and greatest scoops on the tech world wel in advance, I should remind you that this Tuesday (Feb.28) is the annual Techvibes Massive tradeshow, conference and networking bonanza.
Held at Science World, Massive is supposedly the place to be if you want to rub shoulders with beautiful e-business people. Sort of like Comdex, but a lot more focused on the Internet and wireless technology.
I never been a huge fan of these events: if I'm employed, I'm never in a position to be sent out as an envoy to hawk wares or to do research. And when I've been unemployed, I found there was some value in making the rounds to try and score a job, but most everyone is in a different mindset... that is, the mindset of marketing and selling stuff, not hiring random people.
Still, there is the allure of attending some of the keynote lectures, with a roster of presenters that include Dave Chalk (he of the hokey computer how-to TV show in the '90s) , Jeff McDowell of Research in Motion (creators of the nefarious Blackberry) and Duane Nickull, strategy analyst at Adobe Systems.
Contrary to the hype I keep getting from the Techvibes mailouts, this year's Massive isn't sold out and you can still score a $99 ticket through their website.
