First let me tell you two things. The first is that I am not normally the type to get excited about theatre. I like it, I am entertained, but true thrilling excitement is usually reserved for other aspects of my life. The second thing is that I had to try really hard not to use three exclamation marks in the title of this post, because I am that excited to see 'Cooking at the Cookery' returning to Vancouver for another run.

Jackie Richardson and Janice Lorraine pair up again to portray the young and old versions of jazz singer Alberta Hunter, a no-nonsense go-getting jazz singer who rose to stardom from the dive bars of Chicago. You can read my past review for the full details or you can have a listen to part of the score, but make sure you check out the details after the jump because this show is amazing.

Everything about this performance is executed perfectly. The music, performed live on stage with stunning jazz vocals, the sets, the story...You will learn things you likely didn't know about jazz history and have so much fun doing it too! And at the last showing they even had a band playing in the lobby after the show, in case (like me) you weren't quite ready for the party to stop.
