SWARM8 Arts Fest: 3 Days, 30 Venues, 200 Artists

When you get your first week of September out of the way we've got something snazzy for ya -- from Thur. Sept 6 to Saturday, Sep. 8. It's totally FREE, local, and, you won't believe how excessive. Why, you ask. Think of it as a gesture to appreciate one last weekend of inspiration before the routine sets in, whether you're a student or a worker! Here's SWARM8! Wtf, you ask? Think of installations, video screenings, architecture and landscape design, among tons of other exhibitions.

Picture a flock of galleries and tons of artists showing off their work for three good days. Call it "SWARM", and define it as Vancouver's annual fall gallery-hop, or a "meet-and-greet, and art-party extravaganza." Think of it as an interdisciplinary showoff of artist-run culture and initiatives in the city, to seduce and overwhelm your sensory bauds. Join these flocks of artists and venues for PAARC's (Pacific Association of Artist Run Centres) celebration of the sexy and impromptu public gatherings, showing off artistic process and practice as well as brilliant art-work that says 'i am finished, no more art can be imparted on me.'

If you check the schedule we're talking 30 venues, two hundreds artists, and, we hope, hundreds if not thousands of googly eyes and ears checking it all out, taking it all in, like the good spectacle sponges that you are. I'm giving y'all a weeks' notice cuz (a) you won't be reading anything next week on account of the stress-levels of week one in Sep., and (b) you'll need a good infusion of life into what will otherwise be a return to 'regular life' as you know it...
