Gallery Gachet Provides a Preview of Woodward's
As the noisy construction clamors on at the Woodward's site, plans for the finished building are taking shape. The rebuilt Woodward's building will include the Simon Fraser School for Contemporary Arts, housing, shops, and the Centre for Creative Technology and Community Arts. The centre, housed in a 9,400 square foot facility, will serve as a venue for artistic organizations and events in the Downtown Eastside.
The vision for the Centre for Technology and Community Arts has been actively contributed to by seven community organizations from DTES. These organizations are:
Redwire Native Youth Media Society
Gallery Gachet Society
Coop Radio/CRES (Community Radio Education Society)
Kootenay School of Writing Society
IMAGeNation/Indigenous Media Arts Group Society
Independent Community Television (ICTV) Society
CHAKRAS/teaspace Society
On Thursday, November 29, Gallery Gachet will host a Woodward's Open House.
The event will run from 5:00 - 7:00pm, and will provide in-depth insight into the plans for the Woodward's space.
Everyone is encouraged to attend to gain a clearer understanding of why all of that construction on Cordova is actually a good thing.
