Who The F#@K is Gregor Robertson?

Update: wacqueline posted an excellent link to a Vancouver Magazine article, outlining both Ladner and Robertson. It can be found here.
Since we learned a little bit about Peter Ladner last week, it's only fair to find out at least a little about the man who holds the top spot for Vision Vancouver. Once again, I can't say that I know the man, or much about him personally. I did see him buying various berries at the Kitsilano Farmers Market, so if that counts for something, there you go.
To answer your question, they were blueberries and strawberries. Yes, a whole tray.
But beyond buying organic fruit, Mr. Robertson has a history of growing it himself - kind of. He is the co-founder of Happy Planet, an organic juice and soup company that has won the Ethics in Action award in 2004 and the Vancouver Mayor's Environmental Award for exemplary achievement in 2003.
Another long-established Vancouverite (his website states fifth-generation), Gregor has a bachelor's degree in English and Biology which clearly makes him qualified for something. His website mentions that he and his wife, Amy have travelled quite extensively, so maybe it prepared him for a life of leisurely travel as mine certainly did.
Deciding to mix a little politics with his business, Gregor was elected to the legislative assembly in 2005 representing Vancouver-Fairview for the NDP. As many of you know, he resigned this summer to take a shot at running Vancouver.
He's also an avid cyclist. So if the sole issue for you this election is cycling then you're going to have a tough go of it between Ladner and Robertson. Then again, if the sole issue for you is cycling that's kind of sad.

Gregor is also Norman Bethune's grand nephew, which if I hear him mention one more time in an attempt to pander to the chinese vote will make me puke.
Of course I've only heard it once, but it made me puke that day too.
I've heard Gregor speak a number of the times, and the only reason he ever talks about Bethune is because the Chinese media ALWAYS bring it up. seems to me if he had it his way, he wouldn't talk about it.
besides, it just distracts from the real issue: who has got a plan to run the city? It's sure not Ladner, whose idea of leadership is "vote with Sam on everything until he's so unpopular that I can push him out."
our city deserves better than that kind of backroom, old-school politicking from Ladner and the NPA. Here's hoping Gregor steamrolls to victory in November.
Mayor Happy Planet is making most of his constituents mucho unhappy with his mad attempts to retrofit the downtown with bike lanes, making life a nightmare for delivery vehicles or anyone else wishing to negotiate a left or right turn. Bike lanes work very well in Germany, whose roads were carpet bombed in WW II making reconstructive innovation easy. A little more difficult here where an third of the road should not be made available for four percent of the population. His Worship may not have noticed but it rains here half the time and a lot of people commute here from environs further afield than Kitsilano or Strathcona. This is a 125 million dollar fantasy. Stop him before he fantasizes again!
FYI, Gregor does a lot of his clothes shopping at the consignment store on 4th, just west of Burrard. (I forget what's it's called) He and the store's proprietor go way back, judging by the way they spoke to one another and the fact that the proprietor made sure to save some of the best men's pieces behind the counter, "just for you, Gregor"
Seems to me like that's a pretty sustainable way of updating a wardrobe and not breaking the bank.
oh the drama!
