It may be a fact that millions of people on the planet are dying of malnutrition, but it's not like you fasting is going to help them. Look at it this way: If you were a starving kid in Niger dreaming of life's possibilities in the decadent Western World, how would you want people here to live? Oh. Well maybe cornmeal and an egg are nice, but really there's bigger and bigger and bigger and better and better and better things to consume! And the Eat! Vancouver show will show us the tantalizing and delicious ways. Mmmmm.
Celebrity chefs! Competitions! Tasty bites here! Tasty bites there! Ethnic foods from places you've never heard of! Beer and Wine tasting! Glug glug chomp chomp!
Sorry to put cornmeal and eggs to shame Adhiambo, but that's just the way food goes in this city. But hey, we will NOT be tempted into guilt by gluttony, because at The Bite of Vancouver we can eat appy portions of pricey meals from pricey restaurants, and all proceeds go to the Union Gospel Mission to help feed Vancouver's needy. (They need to be SAVED, folks). This should be a pretty cool part of the show where you can taste some of the city's best offerings without being kicked out for wearing ugly shorts.
Eat opens this Friday, 11am to 9pm, and then 11am to 6pm for the weekend. Bon apetit!
